THEREFORE: butangi og apostrophe..kay naa may tag-iya ana na opinion
*put apostrophe to show ownership [naay tag-iya]

movie: the enemy starring jake g

movie: the enemy
actor: that actor who is the brother of maggie gyllenhaal, his name just totally escaped from my brain!

if you want to barbecue ur mind with so many confusing incidents and symbolism like a giant spider crawling over the metropolis of toronto then watch this film. if you are a psych student, graduate, or thereabouts, watch this movie.
if any english word gives an embarrassing nosebleed, dont watch this. if you hate spiders, dont dare watch the film. but if you are oddly curious, watch the film with a friend who brings a pillow in case you are about to be scared and he would beat your head telling you to grow up because it is only a movie and asking you who is powerful: you or that dvd player? and you say: me.
i rest my case...the pillowcase!

http://www.englishclub.com/vocabulary/cw-raise-rise.htm

Raise or Rise?

The verbs raise and rise both refer to something going "up". The main difference between them is thatraise is transitive (it must have a direct object) and rise is intransitive (no direct object).
  • Something raises something.
  • Something rises.
We also note that:
  • raise is regular: raise, raised, raised
  • rise is irregular: rise, rose, risen

Raise (regular, transitive)

If you raise something, it means that you elevate it - you move it up or lift it to a higher level.
  • The government plans to raise the age of retirement from 65 to 67.
  • If you have a question, please raise your hand.
  • Mary raises her voice when she's angry.
  • He raised his eyebrows, as if surprised.
  • They have raised their prices every year since they were founded.
  • The king's men were raising the drawbridge when it collapsed.
On this page we discuss the meanings of raise and rise that mainly cause confusion. Both of these verbs have additional meanings that we do not discuss here.

Rise (irregular, intransitive)

If something rises, it means that it elevates itself - it goes up itself. No external force is needed to lift it. But note that there is not always a physical movement; sometimes the meaning is just "to increase".
  • I like to rise at 6am, but my husband stays in bed until 8am.
  • If it doesn't stop raining, the river will rise and overflow.
  • Hot air rises.
  • John rose from his chair when Mary walked in.
  • Jane has risen in her company very quickly and is now CEO.
  • Prices are rising all the time.

To help you compare the meanings, here are some examples with raise and rise in the same sentence:
  • We raise the flag when the sun rises, and we lower it when the sun goes down.
  • Whenever our commanding officer comes in, we rise from our chairs and raise our hands in salute.
  • The helicopter rose into the air, raising the survivors out of the water.

Important! There is some confusion over the nouns rise and raise when talking about pay or salary. In British English a (pay) rise is an increase in pay. In American English the word is (pay)raise.
  • Did you get a 4% pay rise last year? (BrE)
  • My boss said he's giving me a pay raise next month. (AmE)

acceptance speech: cate at the oscars

Cate Blanchett Oscars 2014

Cate then swiftly moved on to deliver the ‘message’ of her speech, championing female centred films and slamming old fashioned ideas that they are a niche market. Thanking the films distributors Sony Classics for their support of the film, the actress said, "for so bravely and intelligently distributing the film and to the audiences who went to see it and perhaps those of us in the industry who are still foolishly clinging to the idea that female films with women at the center are niche experiences. They are not. Audiences want to see them and, in fact, they earn money." Further referring the perceived some what old fashioned ideas of Hollywood she also exclaimed, "the world is round, people."

ex. poor, dead, sick, wise, homeless, etc

english lesson: about herd, team, panel and other COLLECTIVE NOUNS

The jury ____________ their seats in the courtroom.
TAKE or TAKES ?

answer: TAKE
why? eventhough that JURY is a collective noun which demands SINGULAR VERB ( other collective nouns such as STAFF, HERD, TEAM, PANEL, BOARD, AUDIENCE, etc) but in the sentence it focuses to the INDIVIDUAL PERSON in the jury by the phrase "their seats"

so FOURTH YEAR students: please try to analyze the sentence also and get some clues and phrases whether the whole sentence deserves a singular verb OOOOOOOOOORRRR plural verb.

Stoked.
I found this via searching dialogues of the photoplay, STARTING OVER AGAIN, a filipino film. He has a very engaging and kapow review about that film.

WORD FOR TODAY

stoked.

I read this at Jericho Rosales' tweeter with paul soriano

fb

THE INADVERTENT IN MEMORIAM OF A GREAT ACTION [ gor na & bungaw ] Did I finish the movie? I have no friggin idea. Old age has gotten the better of me!

movie: STARTING OVER AGAIN

WHY DID Toni Gonzaga accept the role [of Ginny] Here's my innocent assumption.

She has been bumped into, tumbled over, tripped down, rammed upon into most scenes. I mean, what was she thinking? She accepted the project because she did not read the contract and the script. In her mind, she had been thinking about the Sprite commercial she did with Piolo in 2001 and had kept it repeating in her thoughts!
One scene: kaBOG! into the wall. She almost froze to death in that enormously humongous meat freezer. But the hugs and kisses of Piolo are the ultimate panacea of her pitfalls, silly faux pas, and physical bloopers.

MOVIE today: Piolo-Toni starrer film STARTING OVER AGAIN

if you want to polish, review, develop, gain, and be fluent to present perfect tenses(i.e. have/has + past participle) and present progressive (i.e. have/has + been + present participle), watch this movie. if Toni or Piolo starts to speak out those grammar-perfect lines, suspend eating those chicharon bits. Instead listen and write it down [ask the security guard for paper and pen, if he gives you the criminal look, ignore your obsession and instead turn on ur fone and go to your memo pad!]

example: "There are three words that I HAVE BEEN WANTING to say to you for five years now." - Toni Gonzaga to Piolo Pascual

MORE:

movie lines

1. "Nung iniwan mo sya, binigyan mo sya ng karapatan para magmahal ng iba"
2. I deserve an acceptable reason
3. PSP....Past [i-]s Past
4.Nag-adik ka na naman sa pag-asa, try mu kayang lumaklak ng realidad. :
5. "Yabang mo kasi. Akala mo kung sino kang maganda, puro ka naman panga." - Ginny Gonzales [Toni Gonzaga's feisty and cheeky character]
6.

STOKED

stoked means very excited, OR being in an enthusiastic or exhilarated state.
ex. Ginny with her powerful jaw is stoked to see Marco in the busy kitchen. The stoked dog was outside, hearing the moos and hoots of Ginny and Marco! Paul Soriano does some cameo role and the audience is systematically stoked.

my fb post

----  yes, the film is delivered with wisdom, full of wisdom, wit, philippine architecture, full of it, full of delectable dishes and full of toni gonzaga's hilariously exaggerated-overspread toes!

REVIEW BY MJ DE LEON BELOW [GO TO his blog, lifestylehub.net]

Great writing elevated "Starting Over Again" to brilliance

Piolo Pascual was already popular when Toni Gonzaga shouted "I love you Piolo!" in a soda commercial. Years later, she found a way to catch up with her leading man when it comes to luster and maybe, talent. Now came their long overdue first movie tandem, aided with the perfect hype, and boasted with a brilliant script.

WHATS IN A NAME?
ALI, WELLA, BABA, MIGO, BEB, PATTY, MARCO, AND GINNY: even the names are well-thought-out, pleasant to the ears and emanate some qualities, for sure.

JOANNE LORENZANA - You

YOU sung by: Joanne Lorenzana

I thought it over
but I never realized
how it was hard for you to leave

I couldnt blame you
Cause YOU'VE  never been unkind
I'd love to hold you in my arms
Make believe you're mine
But I have to face reality
That it's time for me to _______.

YOU dont give me answers
for a while you lie
I'd rather keep the lovin
you keep me burning deep inside.

YOU never believe
the ways
to show I care
I dread to see tomorrow
Cause I know
You won't be THERE.

I keep believin
Cause I know it's worth a try
But it is not easy to pretend
__________________(lyrics still questionable)
I could always be a stranger
Loving YOU until the end

I only long to hold YOU
